The Saxophone is a member of the Woodwind family that uses a wooden reed to produce its sound. It is one of the more modern instruments, invented by Adolphe Sax in 1841. It is one of the most powerful and vocal of the Woodwind instruments. The 3 sections of the Saxophone are the Body, Neck, and Mouthpiece. When the sections are properly assembled, the instrument is ready to play. The Saxophone first gained popularity in military bands, but is now frequently in Orchestras, Big Bands, Blues, Jazz, and Rock and Roll.
